This piece was cut individually 6 times from a laser and layered together. The type of material used for the fish was birch wood. I stained each individual layer and then hand carved the edges to highlight the piece. I encased the piece with clear epoxy and sanded it to a fine finish, once that was done, I polished it to a glass finish. The base is made from solid cherry with an oval shape to consist with the fish silo it.
The total weight of this piece is 1.347 kg (3.63lbs). The size of the fish is 39 cm x 22 cm x 2.75 cm (15.35 x 8.66 x 1 inches), the oval base is 38 cm x 8.5 cm (15 x 3.3 inches). The overall height of this piece is 22.5 cm (8.9 inches).
